Remove unwanted facebook apps and Unclutter your facebook
Everytime I open facebook , all I see is a bunch of applications in my news feed cluttering the space. Updates from friends are lost in the clutter and it takes lot of time to find them. Here are few steps you can do to block/hide those applications from your news feed.
1. Hide applications whenever you see them in the news feed
You can hide applications from showing up in your news feed by clicking on the Hide button.This will prevent the applications from showing on your facebook page. To view all your hidden applications at once click on the Edit Options on the bottom of your facebook page. This will show all the applications that you have blocked. Here is a screenshot of applications I have hidden . I have hidden a lot of them but only a few are shown here.
2. Block applications when you get application requests.
This is first thing you should do when you encounter an application request (that do dont want) from your friends. Click on the Block Application in the bottom of the request.This will block the application forever and any further application requests will not be shown.
3. Create lists for people
To make your facebook more organized you can group a set of friends a by creating a list on facebook. To do this , click on create list(click more if the tabs are minimized) on the left most menu on facebook and then type in the name of the list and select the people you want to be on that list. This will create a separate tab along with the default ones with that name. When you click on this tab you will see updates only from the people who are on the list.
For example, you can create a list with all your colleagues on it.
4. Track which applications are allowed to post on your profile
To keep track of applications which are allowed to post on your profile, go to Settings-> Application settings and click Show, select Allowed to post. This will show all the applications which can post on your wall without prompting for permission.
5. Get rid of those ads!(Firefox only)
Dont like Facebook ads?? Here is what you can do to hide all those facebook ads that distract you! The firefox addon remove all facebook ads 0.1 will remove any and all ads from Facebook.
